Giad and Ports Engineering open a joint vehicle service centre in Port Sudan (March 2024); armoured corps commander at Giad's Port Sudan premises

2024-03 to 2025-01

DIS and Giad pages reported on 4-5 Mar 2024 the opening of a vehicle service centre in Port Sudan 'in partnership between Giad Engineering Group and Ports Engineering Company', attended by the industry and transport ministers and the Red Sea State governor; Giad's chief executive said the group had moved its activities to several states. On 3 Jan 2025 Giad's vehicle-services company in Port Sudan posted a visit by the commander of the Armoured Corps. On 11-12 Dec 2024 Giad opened a parts centre in Juba and held a board meeting of its South Sudan branch.

Why this grade
Grade A is for the fact that the page announced this. The page was identified as official by its name and content; no verification badge was detected.
Sanctions
Giad/SMT: EU 22 Jan 2024, US; Ports Engineering: US (as recorded in the dossier).
›Research notes

Source alignment: official SAF-side channel. Grade applies to the fact that the announcement was made, not to its content. Page is not badge-verified on Facebook; treated as official because its output is the body's own press material (same texts are carried by the state news agency) and it is referenced by other official pages. Both companies are named in the June 2026 US action against the DIS procurement network as recorded in the dossier; the 2024 partnership is an on-the-record tie between them. The post names the Ports Engineering director; the name is left out here because an earlier editorial decision removed it.

Grade C: Single source

Giad Industrial Group / Sudan Master Technology (SMT)

Named in the June 2026 OFAC action as the DIS arm through which subsidiary companies are controlled. SMT was already EU-listed (Jan 2024) as a maker of weapons and vehicles for SAF.

Why this grade
Press report of an official act. The primary record is cited in another record for this actor.

Correction: The 2023 release does not use the name "Giad". "Giad" appears only (a) as OFAC SDN aliases GIAD INDUSTRIAL CITY / GIAD INDUSTRIAL GROUP and (b) in the 26 June 2026 release (sb0544). Timeline entry "OFAC designates ... Giad/Sudan Master Technology" should say "Sudan Master Technology (a.k.a. Giad Industrial Group)".

  • “The Defense Industries System (DIS), Sudan’s largest defense enterprise, supports and maintains the SAF’s arsenal of arms, ammunition, vehicles, and material, often acquired from Iran and other external backers. DIS controls numerous subsidiaries, including the Sudanese conglomerate, Giad Industrial Group (Giad)—also known as Sudan Master Technology—through complex and opaque structures from which DIS has generated billions of dollars.”
