Also recorded as: El Sewedy Electric; Elsewedy Electric SAE; Elsewedy Electric International

Minority foreign partner in a Giad joint venture. Its own reports say the Sudan plants were idle in 2023-2024. No evidence that Elsewedy supplied the SAF.

Flagged for legal review before publication.

The Ministry of Finance inventory (labels mistranslated as 'Swedish') shows 'Elsewedy Electric International' with 45% of the cable company beside Giad Metal Industries Complex 55% (earlier filing: Giad 85%, United Export 15%); 'Elsewedy Electric' with 99.98% of 'Giad Elsewedy for Transport' (reg. 25987); and an Elsewedy company with 70% of Sudanese Egyptian Electrical Industries (reg. 21083), the transformer plant. Elsewedy's own reports list '2 Facilities in Sudan: GIAD Cables, Sudan Transformers'. C4ADS dates the cable venture to 2002.

Grade A: Official record

Company disclosure: Sudan plants not operating in 2023 and 2024

2019-2025

Elsewedy's 2023 Sustainability Report states: 'GIAD Elsewedy manufacturing facility in Sudan, was not operational in 2023 due to the ongoing conflict' and excludes it from that year's assessment 'due to its non-operational status caused by war circumstances'. The 2024 report footnotes both GIAD Cables and Sudan Transformers: 'The plant wasn't operational in 2024'. The 2025 report repeats the 2024 footnote and gives no 2025 status. In April 2019 the company had said its Sudan transformer and cable plants were running and that Sudan made up 1.1% of 2018 earnings. On 23 September 2025 Sudan's state news agency reported the energy minister meeting Elsewedy's chief executive in Cairo about 'the resumption of the company's activities in transformer manufacturing in Sudan'.

Grade B: Corroborated

45% partner in Giad Elsewedy Cables; other Sudan companies

2002 - present

Percentages rest on the dataset; the existence of the two Sudanese plants is confirmed by the company's own reports.

Grade C: Single source

Unresolved contradiction with trade data on brass cups

August-October 2023

C4ADS reports that Giad Elsewedy Cables was consignee of 7.62mm brass cups from India's Rashtriya Metal Industries on 22 August 2023 (about 84.6 t) and 1-3 October 2023 (62 t), and assesses it as an intermediary for the SAF's ammunition production. Elsewedy's own report says the joint plant did not operate in 2023. If both are right, goods were consigned to a plant its foreign co-owner describes as shut. The Giad industrial city was later held by the RSF for about 20 months until early 2025 (Al Jazeera). No statement by Elsewedy on the shipments was found, and nothing found shows Elsewedy's knowledge of or part in them; the Giad side holds 55%.

Response
No Elsewedy statement on the C4ADS finding was found (one targeted search; company reports for 2023-2025 read in full for Sudan references).
