Zadna in 2026: new managing director, Sovereignty Council backing, works in South Kordofan (company page, officialness not established)

2026-05 to 2026-08

A page in the name of Zadna's agricultural department, signing as the company's media office, reported that on 9 Aug 2026 Sovereignty Council member Gen. Shams al-Din Kabashi met Zadna's managing director, Ali Khalifa Askouri, discussed completing 'the Habila - Dilling road and Kadugli airport' in South Kordofan and 'affirmed the Sovereignty Council's readiness to support the company's plans'. The page also shows Burhan and the prime minister at Zadna's stand at the Army Day exhibition (15-16 Aug 2026) and a speech by the managing director for 'the 72nd anniversary of our armed forces'. SMRC's page separately names the same managing director in a 20 May 2026 meeting on gold markets.

The Zadna page has about 5,200 followers and no verification badge; it could not be established as official, so its content is graded D. The managing director's name and the SMRC meeting are confirmed by SMRC's page (official). One web search found no independent report of the Kabashi meeting. Kadugli airport and the Habila - Dilling road are in an active war zone; the earlier record of Zadna works at Merowe airport is the comparable case.

[...] According to public media reporting, Zadna was moved under the control of the SAF’s Special Fund for the Social Security of the Armed Forces (SFSSAF) with the express purpose of shielding it from civilian oversight. Called a vehicle for military money-laundering, Zadna had been one of the top-three revenue earners for the DIS, and continues its operations — and its funding of the SAF — to the present.”

US Treasury press release jy2066, "Treasury Targets Entities Funding the Conflict in Sudan"31 Jan 2024verified verbatim

Correction: finance.json #5 misquotes: (1) Treasury says Zadna "had been one of the top-three revenue earners for the DIS", not "one of the SAF's top-three revenue earners"; (2) Treasury writes "Called a vehicle for military money-laundering" (a reported characterisation following "According to public media reporting"), not its own finding - finance_notes.md "described by Treasury as" should read "which Treasury said had been called". (3) The release body names the firm "Zadna International Co for Development Ltd" while the SDN entry is "...FOR INVESTMENT LTD" - use the SDN name. Arabic-thread item giving "31 December 2024" (Ayin) is wrong; 31 January 2024 is correct.

Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/384, Annex, B.322 Jan 2024verified verbatim

Correction: finance.json #5 renders the EU text as "party to flagship international commercial agreements and one of the main revenue sources of the army's company network" - not the English OJ wording, which is "a leading company engaged in high-profile international business deals and is one of the top revenue earners in the army’s network of companies". Use the OJ wording.
