[Verification: complaint and indictment give the drone contract as EUR 61,656,000; the Justice Department release 26-067 (20 April 2026) says "more than $70 million". Charged conduct runs "between on or about August 2024 and the present". The indictment adds an ammunition contract of 5 September 2024 worth $100,800,000 for 240 million rounds. The complaint names the Defense Industries System in the bomb-fuse contract. Neither document alleges that any drone, fuse or round reached Sudan: the case shows contracts and payments, not deliveries.]

US v. Mafi: docket to 11 September 2026

1 May - 11 September 2026

No plea, superseding indictment or verdict. After the not-guilty plea of 8 May 2026 and the continuance of 10 June 2026 (trial moved to 19 January 2027), the public docket shows orders on 23 and 24 July (the latter on a stipulation), orders on 2 and 4 September, an order appointing a public defender or CJA attorney and a status conference on 10 September, and an in-chambers minute order resetting hearings on 11 September 2026. The documents themselves are not in the free archive, so their content is unknown. The defendant remains detained under the order of 23 April 2026.

Response
Not guilty plea to all four counts. No public statement by defence counsel found. Presumption of innocence applies.

US v. Mafi - reported indictment of 1 May 2026; exchange houses still unnamed

Jun 2024 - May 2026

Middle East Forum (Abdullah Bozkurt, 14 May 2026) reports that a 33-page indictment was filed in the Central District of California on 1 May 2026. As summarised there, it repeats the payment account in the FBI affidavit: a message advising 'the cash transfer process... In turkey we can just accept in exchange. And it should be in cash'; a January 2025 receipt for nearly US$1m 'through a Turkish money exchange'; and a contract amendment directing payment 'to an account provided by MODAFL in the UAE or Turkey'. The affidavit, read directly, refers only to 'a Turkish money exchange', 'UAE Currency Exchange-1' in Dubai and 'Omani Company-1'. No exchange house is named in either document.

Response
No plea or defence statement found. No Sudanese government comment on the indictment found.

Statements compared with the wording of the primary document.

  • “For example, she facilitated a contract worth more than $70 million for the sale of the Iranian-made Mohajer-6 drone from Iran's defense ministry to Sudan's military. [...] She coordinated the Sudanese delegation's travel to Iran and was paid more than $7 million. [...] A complaint is merely an allegation of criminal conduct, not evidence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”

USAO C.D. Cal. press release 26-067, "Iranian National Living in San Fernando Valley Arrested on Federal Complaint Charging Her with Selling Weapons for Iran's Government"20 Apr 2026verified verbatim

Correction: Brief said the release was April 2026: it is dated Monday 20 April 2026, number 26-067. She "was arrested on Saturday night" = 18 April 2026 (the docket's Report Commencing Criminal Action also gives "date of arrest: 4/18/2026"); the 19 April date from MEF is wrong.

  • “Between on or about August 2024 and the present, in the County of Los Angeles in the Central District of California and elsewhere, defendant violated: [...] Conspiracy to Violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act”

US v. Shamim Mafi, Criminal Complaint and FBI affidavit, C.D. Cal., No. 2:26-mj-02332 (69 pp.)18 Apr 2026contradicted

Correction: arms.json #32 says "complaint dated 12 Mar 2026" and "Brokering from early 2025". Wrong on both: the cover sheet is dated "April 18, 2026" (Hon. A. Joel Richlin, U.S.M.J.); the charged period starts "on or about August 2024", and the dealings described run from May 2024. corporate.json has the right date. Docket number (blank on the Fox News copy) is 2:26-mj-02332; the redacted complaint is docket entry 13.

  • “MAFI facilitated a contract valued at over €60 million for the sale of Iranian-made Mohajer-6 armed UAVs from Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (“MODAFL”) to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Sudan. MAFI coordinated the Sudanese delegation’s travel to Iran, received over €6 million in payments, and issued payment receipts under the contract. [...] The total value of the contract was €61,656,000, to be paid by the customer in four installments.”

    US v. Mafi complaint, paras 8 and 39(e), 39(l)18 Apr 2026verified verbatim

Correction: Resolution of "$60m vs $70.6m": the court documents give EUR 61,656,000 ("over €60 million"); the DOJ release says "more than $70 million". "$60 million" (e.g. Courthouse News) is a euro figure mislabelled as dollars; "$70.6m" appears in neither primary document. Likewise payments: complaint "over €6 million", DOJ "more than $7 million" - arms.json "Atlas received >$7 million in 2025" should be attributed to the DOJ release and read "Mafi was paid", not Atlas. The 7 Jan 2025 amendment was for EUR 30,828,000 with an "Omani front company" as buyer on behalf of the government of Sudan.

  • “The trial in this matter is continued from June 23, 2026, to January 19, 2027, at 8:30 a.m.”

Correction: First pass had no docket data and said no later filings could be found. Add: complaint 18 Apr 2026 (2:26-mj-02332); initial appearance 20 Apr; ordered permanently detained 23 Apr; four-count INDICTMENT filed 1 May 2026 by the February 2026 Grand Jury (2:26-cr-00266-MCS, Judge Mark C. Scarsi: count 1 IEEPA conspiracy, counts 2-4 IEEPA violations with aiding and abetting, plus forfeiture); arraigned 8 May 2026, "Defendant entered not guilty plea to all counts as charged"; trial continued to 19 January 2027 (status conference 11 January 2027). Last known filing 11 Sept 2026. No plea agreement, conviction or sentence. Defendant also charged as "aka Raheleh Mafi".
