Pre-war record only (2012-2019). No source reviewed names Kaloti, or any other UAE refinery, as a buyer of gold from army-held Sudan since April 2023. Kaloti denies ever sourcing conflict gold.
Flagged for legal review before publication.
Global Witness (July 2020) reported that between 2012 and 2019 Kaloti repeatedly acquired large quantities of gold from Sudan's central bank, which bought from Jebel Amer in Darfur, and that Swiss refiner Valcambi took about 20 tonnes from Kaloti and more than 60 tonnes from a Kaloti-linked company in 2018-2019. This is the only named refinery-level buyer of Sudanese state gold in any source reviewed, and it predates the war. CORRECTIV (May 2026) still describes Kaloti as 'suspected of sourcing gold from Sudan', citing 2023 media reports, and says Valcambi's imports from Dubai rose to 420 tonnes in 2025.
Their response
Kaloti told Global Witness it 'has never sourced conflict gold or gold from Darfur' and conducts enhanced due diligence. Valcambi says it accepts gold only from two vetted UAE refineries with written guarantees and annual checks (CORRECTIV, swissinfo).

DMCC register: two active Kaloti companies at the DMCC gold refinery building
accessed 2026-10-03
The DMCC business directory lists two companies with Active licences at 'MTM & Gold Refinery DMCC', Enterprise Zone 3, DMCC Free Zone, Dubai: 'M KALOTI FZCO' (Unit G-02) and 'KALOTI PRECIOUS METALS SURINAME FZCO' (Unit G-03). The directory publishes no licence number, registration date, officers or shareholders. No entry was found for 'Kaloti Precious Metals' or 'Kaloti Jewellery' under that exact name, which may sit in another Dubai or Sharjah register that could not be queried. Nothing in the register relates to Sudan.
